Answer Question
UL1-DX: Own Arctic Oven 12 & a Sportsmans Guide 10x12 Canvas wall tent. 4 or 6 pcs pipe? 3" or 4" spark arrestor?
I own both an Arctic Oven 12 tent (I believe it has the 3.5" oval stove jack installed from them. Tent height is 86" peak.) and a Sportsman's Guide 10x12 canvas wall tent (It has a 5" round stove jack installed. Tent height is 99" peak with 60" side walls.). I was interested in a wood stove to interchange between either tent. Since the smaller stove jack on the Arctic Oven seems to be the limiting factor, I was looking at the Ultralight I-DX titanium stove as an option.
Since the pipe on the DX model is telescoping from 3" to 4" and back down to 3", would I be best to order 6 pcs of 16" pipe to clear the height of either tent? Would a 3" spark arrestor work best for both setups? (Assuming all 6 segments of pipe are screwed together for either tent's setup to clear the peak height.)
Is it safe to assume this setup would be sufficient to clear a Tentipi Safir 7 type setup as well? (106" peak height).
I'm in the lower 48 states. I'd probably expect to use it between 0-32 degrees F in the midwest. Would the Ultralight I-DX titanium stove sufficiently handle heating any of these tents to a comfortable 60-70 degree F inside temperature, or what temperature range could I safely expect to achieve at worst case?
I was eyeing up the Ultralight II titanium stove for its extra size capacity for the canvas tent, but its 4" pipe may be too large for the meager 3.5" oval stove jack they installed on the Arctic Oven 12. (The propane stoves they sell for their tents only have a 3" pipe on them, which is probably why its so small on their tents.) If the UL-II would work, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll assume the UL I-DX is the way to go.
Thanks.
